NYG/SF Results

Alex Smith showed why he is no Joe Montana or Steve Young. He looked awful and just like the person who has stunk for the past few years. If the Niners are serious about returning to the NFC Championship or going further, they need to seriously think about getting someone else under center. I am not happy that the Giants made it to the Super Bowl. I see nothing but flashbacks to 2007 all over again. But, the game should still be decent.

As predicted, Chris Zentkowski jumped over Jason Kearney for first place in the tournament. Chris now has 517 points. Chris has ten players remaining, more than anyone else. Jason Kearney sits in second place with 509 points. He has eight players remaining, all of whom are already on Chris' team. In third place is Doug Aunet with 501 points, 33 points ahead of Robby Lee in fourth place. It appears that Doug and Jason will be battling for second and third as Robby has too many points to make up. Doug has Bradshaw while Jason has the Law Firm and Welker, so if Bradshaw goes off, Doug has a shot. Robby Lee will need some crazy scores from the Pats defense in order to have a slim chance to get into third.

I have found a dislike for Tim Tebow this year, not because of his beliefs, but because the media would not shut up about him. The person who previous held the title as sports golden boy was Tom Brady. Now that the Pats have won, I'll have to avoid ESPN for the next two weeks so I do not have to listen to them drool all over Tom Terrific.

The top three have not moved at all in the standings. Jason Kearney remains in first place with 481 points. Chris Zentkowski stays in second place, but is now only one point behind with 480 points. Doug Aunet stays in third place with 463. There is a 29-point gap between third and fourth place, so these three have broken from the pack. It could be said that the top two have broken even further. Chris is set up to overtake Jason in the night game, and a Giants will just might assure him of first place after the Super Bowl is over.

NYG/GB Results

As a lifelong Vikings fan, I must admit that I was gleeful watching the Giants beat the Packers. I never understand why coaches sit QBs in week 17 when they have a bye week in the playoffs. It seems that history shows that this is a bad strategy. Rodgers looked terrible and the teams just was not talented enough to compensate. Maybe next year...

Jason Kearney finishes this week with 438 points. He is heavy on Pats players, so an upset will hurt him a lot. On the flipside, he still has Manning left, who will help on the NFC side. Chris Zentkowski is in second place with 426. He is in great shape with the second-most remaining players, along with having four Giants players on his team. Doug Aunet takes third place this week with 422 points. He has a fairly even amount of players left on each of the four remaining teams, so he could be a factor through the Super Bowl.

The majority of the teams took a hard hit with the Packers loss. Only two teams lost less than four Packer players. The loss also hurt most everyone with their MVP and Super Bowl picks. Only two teams have both predictions remaining, so that extra 15 points could factor in at the end. Everyone else has zero predictions left.

Here are the stats for the game. Good luck next week!

HOU/BAL Results

I do not think anyone outside of Texas thought Houston had any chance of winning their game against Baltimore today. I had Baltimore locked and was so confident in them winning that I took a nap and cleared a few items off of my DVR. I turned the game on just in time to view that sweet catch by Evans. Great stuff!

Jason Kearney maintains first place with 375 points. Doug Aunet and Chris Zentkowski are tied for second place with 354 points. The rest of the teams decrease in points at a pretty steady pace. I'm not going to analyze too much else right now since a ton of teams have a ton of GB players just waiting to score points. So, the standings might be dramatically different by this evening.

DEN/NEP Results

The Saints/Niners game was the yin to the Broncos/Pats' yang. What a terrible game. The Pats exposed the Broncos badly and then just rubbed it in their face. I was hoping that there would be a few more fights at the end of the game just to make it a little interesting. Anyway, if the Pats think they are going to run up the score against a Houston or Baltimore defense, they will need to think twice.

Taking over first place is Jason Kearney with 362 points. He had the advantage of playing all of the relevant Pats players and Tebow. Chris Zentkowski takes second place with 335 points. Moving into third place is Doug Aunet with 329 points, one point ahead of Jason Davis. Where is Charles Johnson? He only had one Patriot, so he has fallen to tenth place.

NO/SF Results

Man, what a fun game that was to watch. This is why I love football and this is why I love watching playoff football. When the Niners went up by 17 early, I told myself, "If they had 21 points, this game would already be over, but with 17, they left the door open." I also thought they did themselves in when Alex Smith ran in for that touchdown since they left too much time on the clock. But apparently, the Saints left just as much time on the clock after they scored. Nevertheless, great stuff!

After the game, most everyone got hurt as everyone minus one lost at least four players. The only person who has less than four Saints players is Kelly Heald, who might be in last place, but they also have Alex Smith, so they are still in great shape if the Niners make it to the Super Bowl. Seven teams also lost their MVP and Super Bowl picks. This is anyone's game still.

In first place is Charles Johnson, maintaining his lead with 296 points. Staying behind him in second place is Jason Kearney with 274 points. Moving back into third place is Chris Zentkowski with 250 points. He lead is fairly slim as he is only five points above fourth place.

The stats can be found in the link below. Please note that I discovered that I do not track two-point conversions on this stats page, so I simply added two more points for Brees and Graham in the total column.

PIT/DEN Results

I was hoping that Denver would lose tonight so the media would stop talking about Tim Tebow for the rest of the season. Now, ESPN will be unwatchable for another week while they showcase Tebow/Brady Round II. Nevertheless, the game was at least exciting and I was hoping I would get to see a little more of the new Vikings playoff rules.

After the wild card round, Charles Johnson stays in first place with 211 points. At a minimum, a roster should have lost four players this weekend; Charles lost eight, which is not bad, but he is tied for the most players lost. In second place, with 184 points, is Jason Kearney. Jason was the only person to choose Tim Tebow as a QB. Jason probably will still want to root for the Pats next week since he has six NE players, but will want Tebow to go out on fire. In third place is Joseph Pianfetti with 162 points. Joseph has been in the top three all weekend and has had some great all-around scoring that he will want to maintain next week. Chris Zentkowski is still one-point behind in fourth place.

ATL/NYG Results

Eli Manning was 0-2 at home in the playoffs and the Giants were not that great for most of the season. For that reason, I thought they would be ripe of an upset. However, I did not read the fact that Matt Ryan was 0-2 in the playoffs period. Had I known that, I would have never chosen three Atlanta players for my roster. I would have kept two because you never know, but not three.

Charles Johnson has taken a commanding early lead thanks to Manning and Hicks. He takes back first place with 192 points. Joseph Pianfetti is 39 points behind with 153 points in second place. Doug Aunet retakes third place with 152 points. Chris Zentkowski is just one point back with 151 points before scores start dropping off again.

DET/NO Results

Even though I have five New Orleans players, I was secretly rooting for Detroit to win tonight. Only five people had Stafford on their roster. As well, only one person had less than four Saints players on their roster. So a win by Detroit and a nice run to the NFC Championship would have been great for me. If a Detroit player would have jumped a route when Brees was still throwing very late in the fourth quarter, my wish might have come true.

In first place after day one is Joseph Pianfetti with 149 points. He lost two more players after losing two in game one. The previous person in first place, Charles Johnson, dropped to second place with 144 points. Jumping up to third place is Laura Phillip with 133 points. The top five in the standings all had Stafford in their roster. Was the one-time 33 points worth the loss of an extra player? We'll see!

CIN/HOU Results

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was surprised about the lack of Detroit players were taken. After posting, I noticed that only two Houston players were chosen. I am really surprised that no one took a chance on the Houston defense. They were statistically the fourth best defense in the league and were playing against a green QB in Dalton. I presumed they would win, so they would naturally go to Baltimore the next week where Joe Flacco is pretty sackable. Oh well.

As of right now, Charles Johnson is in great position since he had Benson, Foster, and Johnson and ended Game 1 with 32 points. Joseph Pianfetti is close behind with 31 points, though he lost two Cincy players in the first game. In third place is Doug Aunet with 27 points. The majority of the league has 20 points since we all pretty much took Foster and AJ Green.

3206...2012 Edition

Welcome back to another year of the 3206 football playoff tournament. This year, we have 16 players. This means that first place will collect $112. Second will take home $32, while third place will take $16.

The rosters are already posted on the site. From the looks of things, the majority of players think that either Green Bay or New Orleans are going take the whole thing. The AFC and poor Tom Brady get no love. While both Green Bay and New Orleans are being predicted to win, there is plenty of evidence that we are not too confident in which team will truly get to the Super Bowl from the NFC as each of our rosters will lose a good chunk of players after the NFC Championship is over.

From a player standpoint, it seems that every productive player from Green Bay is on someone's roster - both RBs, the TE, and four WRs are listed somewhere on a team. New Orleans is right there with three RBs, three WRs, and TE are on teams. Detroit gets zero respect as only two players were chosen from their team - the QB and Calvin Johnson. I'm surprised by the lack of picks for Stafford as he killed it in yards this year and the NO/DET game should be a shootout.

On this page, I'll provide stats and commentary like last year. Please feel free to comment are talk trash as much as you would like.

Good luck!
