After The Sunday Thriller

There was more movement within the standings after the Wild Card round finished on Sunday. Laura retook the lead in the standings with 155 points. Rodgers cranked out 38 points with his arms and legs to help out (1 rush. TD [6]; 4 pass. TDs [16]; 422 yards [16]). Jennings (9 points - 1 rec. TD [4]; 130 yards [5]), Grant (2 points - 65 rush. yards), and Fitzgerald (11 points - 2 rec. TDs [8]; 82 yards [3]) also helped out in the cause. Through the weekend, she has lost 8 players which is four more than the minimum.

Angie Hochhalter continued her move up the standings with 139 points. She also had Rodgers and Grant, as well as Finley (6 points - 159 yards) and Wells (3 points - 91 yards). She has lost 9 players over the weekend.

Making his debut in the Top 3 is Robby Lee with 129 points. He did this by owning six Packer players: Rodgers, Grant, Finley, Driver (1 point - 43 yards), the kicker (9 points - 6 PATs and 1 FG), and Packer DST (2 points - 1 sack, 1 FR). Robby also has 19 players remaining.

The Packers loss did hurt a lot of owners' teams yesterday, but it has not knocked anyone out of contention. Upsets can still happen. For example, if Arizona defeats the Saints next week, there are five teams that will benefit greatly by owning more than one Arizona player on their roster. Plus, it will hurt the majority of the teams that had only one or two GB players, yet are stacked with Saints players. It should also be noted that the teams that were not really hurt by the Packers loss, also have a little ground to make up in the standings; less players = less points.

Overall, this is still an unpredictable tournament and I look forward to next week!

  1. Nice job as usual Ben. I think we are going to pretty much know who has a shot by next Monday. I get lulled in to thinking that it's a long tournament, like the hockey one but this one is only based on 11 games and not the hundred or so used for scoring in hockey. An early lead in this pool can really mean something.

  2. I don't know. Brady was near the bottom of the standings at the end of last week and suddenly shot up to first. I think picks are very crucial in this one. But, gaining an early lead does not hurt. I've been near the top from the start, but I also have less players than a lot of other teams.
